SHOT Show Primer
There are times when my job is a lot more trouble than its worth. I think we can all say that at some point or another. But there are also times when my job rocks. It's about to happen again.
On Thursday, I'll jump on a plane leaving the frigid, frozen, freezing winter wasteland that is Michigan in January, touching down a mere 90 minutes later in sunny Orlando. But that's not the best part -- I'll be spending the next couple of days walking my feet raw trying to cover inch of the SHOT Show. For those unfamiliar with the show, it's basically a hunter's Magic Kingdom. The event is the annual gala of all things outdoors -- guns, camo, gear. In a huge complex. There are, literally, miles of aisles of products and companies.
Told you it was sweet, eh? The show is open only to "industry" people. I've never really considered myself an "industry" guy -- but I'll take that entry badge and roll with it baby. On my way no doubt.
Here's the deal. I'm going to sneak my camera into the gig, shoot photos and gather as much intel as I can on what's hot and new. Then -- I'm pausing while I look for the industry police -- I'm going to post each day from the show and share what the goods with you all.
So check it out. Posts will start on Friday and run through Sunday. I'll do a show wrap-up of even more stuff next week.
Tony Hansen, Michigan Man
