SHOT Update

It's been one long, productive day here at the 2009 SHOT Show.

Aisle after aisle, row after row of every type of hunting gear you can imagine. I never even got through half of it. But I did manage to find a few must-have items for next fall and I'll share more details with everyone in tomorrow's post.

But a couple of highlights:
CAMP IN A TRAILER: I love to hunt different states both during the spring turkey season and during deer season. Like just about everyone else, I have a limited budget and am always looking for a way to hunt more affordably. Well, I'm not sure this product will really do that but it's certainly cool. I've been in the market for a camper to haul on out of state hunts that will save on motel bills. C.A.M.P. Technologies has a new series of campers that are unlike any I've seen. You'll have to check out their website at www.camprtv.com to see it (they wouldn't allow me to shoot photos) but it's basically a souped-up cargo trailer with a wall tent system. Check it out, it's sick. But at about $30,000 it's not really going to save me much money. But there's no doubt it's cool.

JOHN MARSHALL DESIGN REAL KIDS LINE: This is some of the coolest kids clothing with an outdoor theme that I've ever seen. Again, this stuff is brand new and photos weren't allowed. But it's unlike anything I've seen and I will absolutely be getting some for my kids. Their website www.johnmarshalldesign.com has some of the styles.

INSIGHT FLASHLIGHTS: The flashlight revolution continues. Smaller, tougher and brighter. I'm not sure how they keep making flashlights better but it seemed like everyone is coming out with a new tactical flashlight. InSight has a new line that looked pretty sweet.

But here's the big news of the day: I captured that elusive photo. Yes, I was able to capture an image or two of Jake hard at work -- that's him doing a little on-camera work. And, all kidding aside, he was indeed hard at work. You have to give the guys who work the show some props. It's a mad couple of days and they do a terrific job.
