Cabin Fever

I am on the brink of insanity. Winter is always a drag here in the north. It snows a lot. It's cold, the kind of cold that you don't even try to endure. You sit around, wondering when it will end and do nothing.

Well I've hit the wall. We had a couple days of 50-degree temps about two weeks ago and everyone got all giddy. I started thinking about spring turkey season, messed around with some fishing tackle and even wondered if it was time to hit the woods and try to find that some sheds from the one buck in the county that survived the deer season.

Today it's 12 degrees, the wind is blowing about 20 miles an hour and the snow is piling up again. There's no end in sight. And I'm losing my mind.

I spent four hours today cruising the Internet, looking for a hot spot to hunt whitetails next fall. That's pathetic. Four hours? What else was there to do? I don't know. But, man, I'm ready to hit the woods, to walk until my legs ache and feel the sun on my face.

When was the last time I saw the sun? Geez, I can't even remember.
