Still Holding On

So I was out and about the other day and, for whatever reason, decided to make a loop around the block of an area that I had seen a dandy buck chasing a doe across a cornfield last November.

I was just slowing down for a stop sign when I happened to glance over -- and there was the same buck I had seen in November. He was standing about 50 yards off the road and still had both sides of his antlers. He was a clean 10-point with long 2s and 3s and good mass throughout. I'd guess him at about 140-145.

How cool is that? And weird. Here's a buck I had spotted in November, the last time that I had driven down that old dirt road. And the very next time that I travel that road I'm out looking for turkeys to hunt during the spring season and I see the exact same buck. Not only did the buck survive the deer season -- no easy feat in this heavily-hunted region of Michigan -- but he's still trotting around with both of those big ol' antlers on his head.

So now what? Think I'll pull out the plat book and see if I can't do something about running into that dude in another six months.
