Checking In

It's been a good while since my last post. No, my doo-rag hasn't been tied so tight that I've forgotten how to type. Instead, I've been busy with quite a few springtime chores. Writing about hunting and fishing has been among them, but actually going hunting and fishing has consumed a lot of my thought process recently. I've been hunting longbeards in Tennessee and Kentucky since the last weekend in March. It's been a great season so far, and Michelle and I have been able to put a few birds in the freezer. I'll be rounding things out soon with a trip to hunt South Dakota Merriam's gobblers before settling into fishing and deer scouting for the summer.

A few deer hunting headlines have caught my eye lately, however. One of the neatest was this tidbit from Ohio. Time and again, hunters cite lack of a place to go as their number one obstacle to spending more time in the woods. This program in Ohio, from what I understand, would create a "matchmaker" sort of website for hunters who need a place to hunt and farmers with deer problems. I think this is a great idea, but I don't know how many people, hunters or farmers, will participate. It'll be interesting to see.
